CLT Panel to Panel Connection

Panel to panel connection includes panels in floors, walls and roofs.

Connecting panel to panel can be done using internal , double surface , single surface splines made with engineered wood products (e.i. plywood or LVL) , or half-lapped joints.

internal splineInternal Spline Connection System

Two CLT panels are connected together with a plywood/ LVL in between them and finally self-tapping screws are used on both CLT panels penetrating from one side of the CLT through the spline to the other side of the CLT panel

double surface splineDouble Surface Spline Connection System

Two CLT panels are connected together with two pieces of  plywood/ LVL, one is on top and the other one is in the bottom, and finally self-tapping screws are used on both CLT panels; the top spline is screwed to both CLT and the bottom spline is screwed to both CLT

single surface splineSingle Surface Spline Connection System

Two CLT panels are connected together with a single piece of plywood/ LVL lying on both CLTs surfaces and finally self-tapping screws are used on both CLT panels penetrating from the spline to both CLTs.

half lappedHalf-Lapped Connection System

This method does not require any spline. Two CLTs are attached to each other tightly and they are screwed by self-tapping screws.
