CLT wall to concrete foundation

Construction foundations are concrete base where the walls will be mounted on. Connecting CLT walls to the concrete foundation must be established by professional designers and builders with proper choices of connection tools and methods.

Metal Bracket Connection System

It is a non-innovative CLT wall to concrete foundation connection system where normal bolts and screws are used to mountain the wall on a concrete foundation. Metal bracket is used when the concrete foundation is flat and the CLT wall is perpendicular to it. Metal brackets, bolts and screws must be chosen very carefully by the designers or builders as the tension and pressure focus on these points. This connection is done by fastening the bracket to the concrete foundation by anchor bolt while the other side of the metal bracket is screwed to CLT wall. An Engineered Wood Product (EWP), such as plywood or LVL, is laid between the CLT wall and the concrete foundation.

Metal Plate Connection System

It is a non-innovative CLT wall to concrete foundation connection system where normal bolts and screws are used to mountain the wall on a concrete foundation. In this connection system, metal plate is used when the concrete foundation is like a wall and the CLT panel can be joint to the concrete by a flat metal plate. Metal plates, bolts and screws must be chosen very carefully by the designers or builders as the tension and pressure will focus on them. This connection is done by fastening the bracket to the concrete foundation by anchor bolt while the other side of the metal plate is screwed to CLT wall. An Engineered Wood Product (EWP), such as plywood or LVL, is laid laid between the CLT wall and the concrete foundation.

Internal/ concealed metal plate connection system

It is a non-innovative CLT wall to concrete foundation connection system where normal bolts and screws are used to mountain a CLT wall on a concrete foundation. In this connection system, metal plate is inserted/ concealed to the CLT wall while its base is attached to the concrete foundation. Metal plates, bolts and and tight fit dowels must be chosen very carefully by the designers or builders as the tension and pressure will focus on them. This connection is done by concealing the metal plate to the CLT wall while the base is screwed to CLT wall. There is no need for  Engineered Wood Product (EWP).

Threaded rod/screw connection system

It is an innovative CLT wall to concrete foundation connection system where innovatively can mountain  CLT wall to the concrete foundation without the need for normal bolts and screws. In this connection system, Threaded rod is inserted/ concealed into the CLT wall while the anchor bolt is fastened into the concrete foundation and both the threaded rod and the anchor bolt are attached by an adaptor. No Engineered Wood Product (EWP) is required.
